Default MET OFFICE CEO SHOULD BE SACKED IMMEDIATELY

What an utter DISGRACE this organisation is. A month ago we were told 10 rubbish summer seasons were due. A month later we are all dying of heat exhaustion. Who on earth is running this bunch of showers? Any other organisation that was run so INEPTLY would have gone under years ago. Come on Cameron make these cuts to the MetO immediately and give the cash to another weather organisation that knows their arse from their elbow

No we weren't, although that was the sensationalist way that many
newspapers chose to interpret it. What we were told was that over the
next 10 years cool and wet summers were more likely. That certainly
didn't rule out one or two hot and dry ones.

I might agree but the Met Office doesn't have a CEO, only a CE. But then
I was always a pedant.

I hope you are not thinking that your weather organisation should be
the one that receives any of the cash?

Do two hot weeks make a summer?

Would a responsible meteorological service lower themselves to a point
where they feel the need to go strutting around picking holes in other
peoples' predictions with 6 weeks of summer still to go?

That behaviour would appear to indicate a childish organisation run by
egotists.

My advice? Go back to looking at frogspawn and whether the cows in a
field are lying down.

Another one who doesn't understand probabilities.

If I said Miami has a warmer climate than London, would the fact that
one day last week London was hotter than Miami disprove that statement?

I had to laugh though that mere weeks after the '10 soggy summers'
prediction we get a hot spell and we are told to expect 'more of the same'.

There was no such prediction. You should know better than to believe
the garbage published by the media.

I don't necessarily 'believe' it but I'm looking at how this must appear
to the general public. First they get told to expect 10 miserable, wet
summers then hey presto we get a heatwave and the wet summers
seem to be forgotten and hot weather is expected to be the norm.

It's always been that way, I'm afraid. The media invent a story about
what the Met Office has supposed to have said and then blame them when
what they didn't forecast doesn't come true. And these scum still want
to regulate themselves?!

No, but you can guarantee that that fact would be headline "news" in
all the tabloids and repeated every 15 minutes on the tv rolling news
programmes.

Such is life with the ignorant and sensationalist media we now have in
this country.
