NB2 All pre-2006 Davis stations (ie WMII / VP1 / early VP2 models) used
an analogue T/H assembly which, sad to say, is no longer available
from Davis. Supplies were maintained well beyond the 5-year period which
is Davis policy for the continued availability of spares after the end
of production of particular models, but that stockpile is now totally
exhausted. Occasionally spares may turn up eg on eBay and similar sites.

£65. They say the stock is very limited and when they're gone they're gone.

That's an interesting article, John. I hadn't realised it was all so
complicated. I recently bought the 7346.174 version to replace my faulty one.
I'm very happy with the replacement. Fitting it was no great problem though it
is useful to have a second person to hold the 'pile of plates' when the
temperature screen is dismantled. I also took the opportunity to give the whole
thing a good clean.

That's fine for a pre-2006 VP2 and IIRC a VP1, but the WMII T/H sensor
assembly is a different item again I'm afraid. TBH I've never really looked
in detail, but it may be that the actual 2-pin humidity sensor element from
a VP1 board might fit in a WMII assembly. But even if that's the case
there's no guarantee that it will restore correct readings.

On a WMII, there's no obvious reason why the OAT shouldn't continue to work
OK even if the RH is faulty. But I'm guessing that the WMII is now some
12-15 years old and there comes a point where station renewal is the only
real option.

No worries Norman, my WMII the first data on my logger is 20:30 15/10/99
so that's over 17 years now! That Steam Train has been heading for a
cliff for some time now, I think living in the soft SE has meant that it
doesn't get as *weatherered* as some of you up north ;-)

It may be time to think seriously about my options in 2017.
