Today's unbroken sunshine has now passed the magical 200 hours' mark.
Sunshine in excess of 200 hours seems to give the month a sunny(ish) feel. Sunshine in excess of 250 hours makes the month feel rather sunny and the rare 300+ hours in one month makes for a Med style summer month (June 2010 & July 2013). And a warm day too given the cool(ish) start after a run of some really warm nights with a minimum of 11.3C and a maximum of 24.9C. A few flickers of distant lightning out over Lyme Bay last night but we missed the downpours here and only 2 mm fell. August 1st – 26th: Mean minimum = 12.8°C Mean maximum = 23.2°C Mean = 18.0°C Rainfall = 34.9 mm Sunshine = 208 hours. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |
