Hi Graham&Norman
108hr(68%) Copley so far. It has been noticeably dull but warm this year. Far too many easterly flows off the North Sea for my liking. I'm hoping the breezy westerlies and Copley sunshine will return soon, possibly next week. Ken |

It's only with northerlies that we are in a 'shadow'. During the summer months a lot of the cloud is of the 'home-grown convective' type with orographic uplift being a significant factor. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |

Four days worth of unbroken sunshine until today when this afternoon a few clouds spoiled things..... But still have managed over 10 hours of sunshine today so far. Your estimation of 220 hours of sunshine fits well with what I have recorded so far this month. Currently up to 219 hours and will likely pass the 220 hours this evening as the skies are now clear. Warm today with a maximum of 26.2°C and feeling a little humid too with a DP of 17.5°C. Sea breeze rather weak today. It didn't start up until 15:00 and ceased at 18:30. A lovely warm, sunny evening. (19:30), 22.7°C, RH 55%, DP 13.0°C, 1017 hPa (F), Wind NW 4 mph. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk Unbroken sunshine today, a deep blue sky. http://www.sennen-cove.com/today2..htm A notable feature of this warm dry spell is how good the visibility has been throughout. The only cloud I saw today, apart from a few small wisps of cirrus, was the normal narrow line of Cu down the spine of the Lizard. A F3 ENE wind this afternoon, with a maximum of 22.2C. Warm, dry spell. Hmm. I reckon we must be in double figures this month. That's for temperature and sunshine combined.
(Only a minor exaggeration). |
