Default [wr] persistant rain for 24 hours

Its been belting it down today and still is. 30 mm at 0900 this morning and
i would imagine half again by 14:00 - wretched SE'erly.

I doubt that there will be many takers for a stroll by the sea at say
Inverbervie today?

Grimmest day I can remember here for a long time. 24.2 mm by 9 GMT this
morning, another 10 mm or so today, but it has been so dull, so grey,
so depressing, it makes me want to do something exciting.

I do not wish to depress you even further Trevor but here in Coulsdon,
Surrey it has been a wonderful day. A gentle south west breeze, no more than
3 oktas of cumulus, warm sunshine and I have just walked down into the
Chipstead Valley with an almost cloudless sky and soaked up the last rays of
the sun as it set behind the valley sides. To me it was a marvellous day,
without the oppressive summer heat but still quite a warm sun. The hayfever
season has not begun yet for me and the overnight rain of 5.8mm freshened up
the landscape bursting with spring growth, the sloe blossom brilliant
against the blue sky and the fields a rich green.
