One of the problems this week is the ground temperature has been too high.
Snow has been thawing on lawns and fields before roofs on houses and cars. I've seen this effect several times in the past and it usually occurs with snowfall in November or mid-March onwards. "This year I'm assuming the very mild January and general lack of frost has prevented surface cooling. The positive side is that IF there is more snow next week the ground temps should be lower, especially of there is significant frost during the next few nights. Anyway, it's quite unusual to see roofs covered in snow at the end of the day while the ground is green. " Now where have I seen that before ;-) Dave |
