Default could we not have a current weather thread?

So many weather reports from the same people for so many years does get
very tedious. Why cant these saddos have their own weather reports.\

Erm... the OP could well be a troll (unrecognised e-mail address) but
there is a reasonable point there - could we not have a single [OBS]
thread everyday?

That was discussed a while back and it would make it very cumbersome for search
engines and to look back.

The message

I don't think the forecasters at the Met Office who see, and no doubt use,

those
reports to fill in gaps in the network think they are tedious.

Well why doesn't the Met Office set up a newsgroup for people to report to?

Then we climate freaks could look at it if we wanted, and find exciting
developments worth discussing, like the drought in France, here in this
newsgroup.

Cheers, Alastair.

FWIW I don't post [WR] or [OBS] from Fair Isle as it is far more
efficient to have my weather station do so automatically. Anyone who
wishes can then access the data as required,

I've been thinking long on this subject and in this day and age it
should not be impossible for some 'body' (MO?) to set up a secure server
with an online form (rather like a simplified CODET screen) into which
data could be entred. You would register your station (entering station
details etc just the once), have password access and then provide data
as and when available.

As this 'body' would be getting data free it would be reasonable to
suggest that this 'community weather data' would then also be made
available to registered 'data suppliers'.
