It's looking increasingly likely that there could be localised severe gales around the Lands End & Lizard peninsulas. The MetO already shows winds stronger in Penzance tomorrow than on Sunday, when there is a wind warning. All very dependent on the exact track of the low, we may narrowly escape.
The Atlantic swell map for Sunday around noon is quite something https://magicseaweed.com/Sennen-Surf-Report/4/ (Just hold the cursor over the relevant part of the bar chart) Some of the wave buoys will make interesting reading. Regarding the other thread about the 926mb forecast for Dennis, am I right in thinking that the lowest pressure ever recorded over the UK mainland is 927mb? Some particularly interesting weather at the moment! Graham Penzance |

Atlantic record is 913 mb, I think. Not sure of the date. Tudor Hughes. |

Graham Penzance We didn't escape. Trees down, power cut due to overhead cables down at Ludgvan (just outside Penzance). F9 on Scilly (mean speed reached 48mph), Gusts 70mph near Lands End (max gust 68mph last Sunday) and some fairly horrendous sea conditions. http://www.sennen-cove.com/index.htm SWH 6-7m. No warning. Graham Penzance Not just wind damage and overtopping by waves, but the plenty of heavy rain also lead to flooding. Fowey https://www.piratefm.co.uk/news/late...fter-flooding/ Last Sunday saw very little rain. (Different on Monday - thunderstorms). Graham Penzance - where it's all improving nicely. |
