68411 - Vioolsdrif(168m) South Africa

Temperatures there always seem particularily high, for instance the 29th November:
Max 53.2c Min 29.4c

I keep editing this out thinking it surely is wrong, so asking, is it?

This site is a good one for checking stations world-wide, Keith.

https://www.weatherobs.com/

The recent sequence for 68411 has temperature missing, and there are some
odd looking values in the days before that.

I think 53.2 would be up there among the highest temperatures ever
recorded anywhere in the world, wouldn't it? So it seems unlikely that
it could be authentic. Some problem with the site or the screen perhaps?

Seems to have been reported in the South African press as an authentic record, but that doesn't prove it is right, of course.

According to Wikipedia, it is one of the hottest places in South Africa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vioolsdrif

It is on the border between South Africa and Namibia https://tinyurl.com/qnct48g

Can't see the met instruments, though :-)

On Google it states the maximum temperature today was 36 C but Google is not accurate. I do not think the maximum temperature would be 53.2 C but it is difficult to check. I sometimes look at the South Africa Weather Service website but I cannot access climate averages for any location. I think climate extremes are on the website so I should be able to check them.

Sounds a tad unreliable.

Many thanks for your replies.
