There was a decent surfable wave on beaches sheltered from the near gale SSW wind earlier, but it's big and dangerous now.
https://www.atlanticcottageholidays....m-sennen-cove/ Swell at Sevenstones around 12' or so at dawn, now 20' & still building. Quite sunny this afternoon (12:30-15:30) with a maximum temperature of 15.1C . The sea looked great with masses of white water and salt spray reflecting the light. The huge amount of spray in the air meant the visibility was only moderate. Graham Penzance |

The Canadian GEM model gives stronger wind and different timing so may not be as comfortable as NTSLF currently suggests for the morning tide Newlyn tomorrow, and more wind/windstress directed into the Eng Channel. |

High tide at Newlyn tomorrow is 08:57. The MetO shows the wind peak here around 05:00 (F8 gusting 60mph) but it veers & decreases by 07:00. At high tide (which is a fairly small tide) it's a F5 WSW, so I don't see any real issues in Mount's Bay. Just the normal photographs of people dodging the waves on the prom - which is fun whatever your age. It's a bit different further east, where the strongest S winds are forecast nearer high tide, hence the warning for Lyme Bay. That's not to say it shouldn't be quite spectacular at Porthleven at daybreak tomorrow. Also the Minack webcam should be impressive around 09:00 tomorrow. Graham Penzance |
