Default All rather misleading.

According to the MetO forecast it's cloudy in Penzance. OK, there are some patches of thin high cloud, but not remotely thick enough to make the sun go in. In fact even the thickes patches have barely any impact on the suns strength. http://www.sunrecorder.net/googlemap...ay&serial=1002

I realise that technically there is some cloud, but it's having a minimal effect on the sunshine or air temperature. The forecast is supposed to be aimed at the general public, to whom it's a very warm & sunny day.

Featureless and rather thick Cs all afternoon here and getting thicker to the extent that it no longer looks quite like a sunny day. The sun is just about strong enough to cast a shadow from large objects.

I noticed the cloud slipping south on the satellite.

The only time the sun was really affected here was for 30 minutes or so around 16:15, as a fairly narrow band of Cs passed overhead. There were always shadows, but they became very weak for 15-20 mins. Just enough to give a very brief break in the sunshine here
http://www.sunrecorder.net/googlemap...serial=1000 5 Most of the days the light was very contrasty.

The break in the sunshine around 17:00 was down to a small, stationary Cu which developed briefly over the moors where the sunshine recorder is.

A pleasant temperature. Maximum of 20.9C, and virtually calm this afternoon.. Very limited sea breezes. It reached 23C at Lands End, where the wind remained a light offshore.

Grass turning a nice brown colour now, I'm rather pleased to say.

The SST is responding to the sunshine, 15.9C at the Penzance buoy. Also 15.9C at the wave hub Hayle, 16.4C at the Perranporth buoy.

Same here Graham, the forecast was cloudy and yet we somehow managed to
squeeze in 14.6 hours of sunshine, 88% of the available.

Admittedly it was high, thin cloud but it did not stop the sun shining
strongly with distinct shadows. The only time the cloud was thick enough
to stop the sunshine recorder was for 38 minutes between 18:00 & 19:00.

Today the forecast is for unbroken sunshine (22C) though there still
that high, thin cloud up there. Already 23C at 11:00.
