Thanks, Len. I have tried all that as I did last night.
On pressing the orange button "Members access to journals"
a page comes up which says "Access Denied". In the body of
the text below the button is a link to Back Files which produces
exactly the same result - access denied. I tried going directly
to Weather, Browse, All issues and found there was a small orange
indicator to "login". This takes you back to the original page
where you can have another go at wasting your time and so ad infinitum.

Cookies?
Have you got "allow third parties to store cookies" set to "yes" in
your browser? You may need that if you wish your login credentials to
be passed from one site to a second.

Have you got a script-blocker that stops Java/Javascipt? You may need
to whitelist a few third party sites.

All this despite a green panel that came up (somewhere or other)
and explicitly stated that I was successfully logged in.
Perhaps I'm persona non grata, for reasons that escape me.

Have you updated your credit card details for your membership fees
since the last time you got a renewed card? Maybe their request for
funding got bounced?

Mand.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts.

Tudor Hughes.

Cookies (and third-party ones) not blocked. The browser is Google Chrome, the operating system Windows XP which is a bit steam-age and slow but it shouldn't cause this sort of problem and doesn't elsewhere. Thanks for your suggestion which at least got me to have a poke around.

Third-party cookies are allowed, Javascript is allowed, credit card is OK. A perfect world as long as you're not a Baggies supporter.

When I had this trouble, it was with Linux and Firefox. My impression
was that their system was unreliable and it was a matter of luck as to
whether it would work. As I said, it's a while since I've used it so
I'll have to give it a go again soon.

I did. Had no trouble with it this time.

It may depend on what you're looking for. As far as Weather is concerned then free access to entire articles is available back to 1998 but prior to that, no. No explanation is given. I have posted to Bruce's group to this effect.

Hi Tudor,

I just had another go and had no trouble browsing through all of the
articles in the December 1949 issue.
