After light & patchy snow, it's been moderate to heavy since 15:00. A good 15cm now in the garden once again, but much deeper in places.
It is forecast to turn to rain later, but currently it's around -2.5C. It reached a maximum of -1.2C around 13:00. It's a shame my 'day' is 09:00-09:00. If it was 00:00 to 00:00 it would be an ice day. It's virtually impossible to travel anywhere west of Penzance. Some people did attempt to get to Penzance from St Buryan. A few pictures of the Sennen area yesterday (scroll dowm - it's well worth it http://www.old-boathouse.com/acatalog/Diary.html ) I think all signs of gritting end at Penzance! It's a lot worse now, and the power supply is getting increasingly iffy. Graham Penzance |

Difficult to tell how deep the snow is here as it is all blown around but as a rough guess there's about 20 cm. The snow started off light this morning but has been steadily getting heavier and heavier. The wind has also picked up through the afternoon and blowing all that snow around. Quite a few roads now blocked, especially on high ground where there are probably blizzards. Worse than the 19th/20th December 2010 because of the wind. Maximum today so far is -2.4C. And it is still snowing! -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

Nice to see you getting a bit of proper weather, Nick :-) Indeed Norman! Proper weather. And it is now snowing like 'ell. I suspect there won't be much movement on the roads tomorrow - looks like a photography day walking the fields and hills of the Otter Valley. Something to tell the grandchildren.... Tropical now, up to -2.3C. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

In message , Graham
writes I wonder if this weather is cold enough for Will? ![]() Will probably as the white stuff up to his ears after last night ![]() More than likely he's out up the higher peaks walking in it. I notice that he didn't do his usual weekly Dartmoor forecast yesterday, so I hope he's OK. It's not a power cut, as his AWS readings are still being updated. -- John Hall "Hegel was right when he said that we learn from history that man can never learn anything from history."
