To put things into perspective, this one is from the A6024 over Holme

![]() To put things into perspective, this one is from the A6024 over Holme Moss in Feb 1979 Now you are talking Norman. What a Winter, I've never seen so much snow. We had huge drifts, snow lying through all Jan and Feb well into March, even recorded snow lying in April & May that year. Easily goes down as the snowiest and one of the coldest Winters I've lived through, at least here! Graham |

Gtraham More than a few :-) I was living in Watford at the time. The winter seemed to go on forever. I recall that there was widespread snow right into the middle of March - or is my memory playing tricks?! -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. https://peakdistrictweather.org Twitter: @TideswellWeathr |

No your memory is not playing tricks Norman ![]() Now I'm semi retired I'm going to dig out all my old 1978-79 diaries and log that winter onto my website. It was one to remember! Graham |

writes How many red warnings do you think today's Met Office would have issued during that winter? And how many days would the schools have been closed using today's criteria? (It might be easier to determine the number of days when they would have been open.) -- John Hall "Hegel was right when he said that we learn from history that man can never learn anything from history."
