Default Otter Valley, Devon - Sunny February

Passed 100 hours of sunshine today putting this February in the
sunny(ish) category. My sunniest February was in 2008 with 130 hours.

Unbroken sunshine all day so far and today's total is likely to exceed
10 hours for the first time since the 3rd October, though several days
have come close over the last week.

With just a very light breeze and a maximum of 7.3C, it was a lovely day
and quite pleasant to be sat outside in the warm sunshine. The sun's
elevation now above 30°.

Still, the monthly average temperature is below normal and likely to
fall further. This month now holds the record for the greatest number of
air frosts in February (12 so far), and the largest number since
December 2010 (though none of the frosts have been severe).

1st - 24th
Mean minimum = 1.1C
Mean maximum = 9.2C
Mean = 5.2C
Rain = 37.6 mm
Sunshine = 106 hours.

We are ahead of you in Brussels for once :-)

98 hrs 53 min sunshine in Brussels up to Thursday 22nd February

As both yesterday and today had unbroken sunshine, I think we can add another 18 hours or so to that for the current total.

So we have now had in the 24 days of February more than 3 times as much sunshine as in the whole of December and January combined !
