A few sleet showers Tuesday afternoon - mainly slight, but with a moderate one around 1400z. Clear, cold and frosty Tuesday evening and the first part of the night. Wind and cloud increased after midnight bringing a rise in temperature, but it remained sub-zero and gave a penetrating frost. Intermitten snow around 0615z, with the current snow starting just before 0900z. No snow cover at 0900z, but it is settling now (0935z). Ground frozen hard.

Snow continued until about 15 minutes ago, when it turned to rain and drizzle. Ground still frozen. Temperature on the up (1.7 at 1217z) so the milder air is struggling in.

Rain and/or drizzle continued till around 1430z. Extensive low cloud, but relatively good visibility. Surface wind veered southerly around 1230z, I assume that was the "warm" front. Lying snow now completely melted. A chilly and gloomy afternoon. Highest temperature so far today is 3.8 (1454z).
