UKMO have cancelled all today's warnings for the SW due to damp squibs
getting into the mix.

Now that would be nice to see :-)

Never mind the SW, the weather in this area is also totally different to
what was forecast last night. I don't think they're keeping up with
events very well as, on Breakfast, poor Carol was still having to bang
on about the "persistent rain" in the south. What persistent rain? What
rain?

Same with John Hammond on the radio this morning with sun streaming through
the window when apparently it was cloudy. At least John hinted Cornwall
should not expect much, if any, rain.

Its been persistent in the SE. I didn't think the weather could get any more miserable. Throwing it down all day. Weather like this in early autumn always indicates a cold snowy winter. Off course we all know the global climate regarding temperatures, has reached its zenith it's down hill from now.

Same here - tipping it down all afternoon - up to 14mm now and 12.5C. If
this is an ex tropical storm glad it wasn't an ex temperate one!

10:00 and this is still the forecast (issued at 0234) on the now antiquated
MetO website

Regional forecast for South West England
A wet and windy day.

Today:
Cloudy with rain and strong winds quickly spreading in from the south. The
rain will be heavy and persistent in places with some coastal gales likely.
Drier and brighter conditions will spread in from the west through the
evening. Maximum Temperature16°C.

I can see a bit of rain later but wind???? Where is that to come from, even
their own forecast pressure charts indicate nothing much.

You must have different radar to me! I see a mass of very heavy rain
from East Devon to the Wash engulfing the whole of that area with lots
of red in the colours. It's moving north so I would think most of the
Country will get a lot more than a bit. Agree about the winds though,
from 10mph average this morning to flat calm now - we can probably cope
with that.
