Cancelled?
Warnings still here

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/w...u#?tab=fiveDay

at 1000 BST, issued 0900 BST and on Met O widget.

Can't understand it, Henri is being very naughty.

10:00 and this is still the forecast (issued at 0234) on the now
antiquated MetO website

Regional forecast for South West England
A wet and windy day.

Today:
Cloudy with rain and strong winds quickly spreading in from the south.
The rain will be heavy and persistent in places with some coastal gales
likely. Drier and brighter conditions will spread in from the west
through the evening. Maximum Temperature16°C.

I can see a bit of rain later but wind???? Where is that to come from,
even their own forecast pressure charts indicate nothing much.

Will

You must have different radar to me! I see a mass of very heavy rain
from East Devon to the Wash engulfing the whole of that area with lots
of red in the colours. It's moving north so I would think most of the
Country will get a lot more than a bit. Agree about the winds though,
from 10mph average this morning to flat calm now - we can probably cope
with that.

Warnings still in force for wind and rain for Staffordshire, laughable
really. It's been a lovely day with light winds and now it's a clear
evening.
Forecast well and truly gone tits up for this area

1.1 mm total here. Just about a force 3 and max. of 12.7C. Many parts of NW
England and Wales remained dry too.
Also was it really worth a warning for barely an inch of rain? Also I was
referring to the earlier radar frames as the timing on my post would
indicate.

As it did for many Graham. Hopeless here in the SW where many folk were
expecting a storm from what was said on the media the previous evening.

Only 6.2 mm here.
Hopeless forecast for Devon and Cornwall.

I watched the BBC forecasts this evening expecting some sort of apology.
David Braine on at 1030 for SW just said something glib about the rain being in the wrong place.
On the BBC national forecast whats 'is name just showed the radar rainfall during the day. It was just a report of how the weather had been. No assessment of the forecast.
There will be many in the SW who will feel misled by yesterday's forecast of heavy rain for today. No wonder they laugh at the UKMO.
Rather unreasonably most of the time, but these occasions poking fun at UKMO is justified.

I wonder if the the new forecast providers for the BBC will be more reflective through their presenters.

Total rainfall in Penzance since 09:00 yesterday - NIL. Although the radar did show some light/moderate rain over west Cornwall (and Scilly) a couple of times, it was from fairly high level cloud & nothing at ground level.

Penzance was always forecast to be on the western edge of the rain, and little was shown on the postcode forecast despite the warning. It was Sunday where we enjoyed a warm SE wind and spells of pleasant sunshine and the MetO persisted in putting 2 raindrops all day that really took the biscuit. Followed by a basically dry forecast for Monday when there were heavy showers around.

On Sunday & yesterday I don't think the models were too far out, the actual positioning of the fronts was just out far enough to really matter in some areas. On Monday there was more convergence along the spine of the SW than expected, hence more showers. These are things obvious enough to most observers to pick up on, but rarely the weather presenters or the post code forecasts, which rather makes a mockery of them.
