Default Oh well . time to wander off for a while

Looked at USW this morning,4 most recent threads.

1. 'My Apologies' dug up by Jim Cannon
2. A weatherlawrer special
3. A Dawlish 240hr ego trip.
4. A UKIP anthem?

Ah well, I'll check in 2015 to see if the things have improved.

There's only some much **** worth searching through to find a gold nugget. It's a shame as I've learnt a lot from the interesting posts of people who know what they are talking about, and am in touch with several from USW (present & past).

Also they can easily kill file dodge by calling themselves by a
different nom-de-plume, there is no escaping them. Might as well go to
a moderated weather group. This group as gone like all unmoderated
ng's, descended into ****! :-(

They /can/, but fortunately the most prolific offenders haven't up till
now.

There are plenty more places on the Internet (or even real life) where you can complain that the content doesn't suit you. So many times, someone has flounced off from UKSW because they aren't happy with something, only to quietly sneak back in a short while, as if nothing is different. When someone actually leaves; they go.

So seldom does life = perfection and by joining a newsgroup *any newsgroup* you won't find a perfect world where everyone contributes what you wish them to, I can assure you. That's because people have different opinions to each other and express them. Long may that happen. I don't like some of those threads, but I'd defend the right of any of the contributors to start them; *any* of them.

Cue a few spleen-venters, as usual, who have every right to vent. *))

One person's "numpty" is another person's most interesting person in the newsgroup. Killfilng someone's opinion is ridiculous, IMO, but again, if you wish to be one of the three wise monkeys, please be my guest.

If I see that happen, I simply click on the "ignore thread" button.

The other day, I saw there were 24 postings in USW but when I clicked
to open the group, the number dropped to 3 as the dross was removed!
That was an extreme example as the signal-to-noise ratio is usually a
lot better than that.

Bet you it's here in 5 years time and bet you the same people are complaining about the same things. Others will still be enjoying reading the posts. *))
