This animation courtesy of the Norwegians shows nicely the Spanish plume on its way.

Somebody will get a soaking this time.

Pity the poor golfers on the Wirral.

It shows a huge and rapid expansion on its right-hand leading edge. This is probably going to affect Kent worst (best?) but it is now (8.33 pm) getting very gloomy here (NE Surrey) with the sky to the SSE almost black. Next-door's family barbecue may well end rather abruptly.

Excellent site, Len. Thanks.

Close, but no cigar. There was lightning, c-c and c-g but nothing very close, a few very large spots of rain and a very picturesque sky, as mentioned by Lawrie in another thread. Still a few rumbles (grumbles more like). After the previous night I suppose I can't complain.

Heavy rain and strong winds but not much thunder starting about 0305 BST Saturday. The temperature jumped from 18 to 20 (22 at nearby Kenley - hmm, I wonder). This is from the second of two explosively developing mesoscale convective clusters over northern France and I think there'll be more.

With apologies for incorrect quoting format (Windows Live Mail seems to have
forgotten how to properly format Usenet posts), we seem to have similarly
large and rapid expansion of rain-bearing cloud today, but heading in the
opposite direction, from East Anglia over London and towards the south
coast. Interesting. In both cases (18th July and today) a nearly circular
blob of cloud has formed. Maybe not a huge amount of rain but may be
briefly quite intense in places.

My cycle ride home could be a bit wet...
