Default This Perked me Up: SSW Event and New Record Low in Antarctica

Just seen this on Joe *******i's twitter out

"Joe *******i @BigJoe*******i 2h
NSIDC “Prepared To Make Public” All-Time Record Low For Earth, Recorded In Antarctica: Minus 91.2°C! http://shar.es/DLaV "
http://notrickszone.com/2013/12/09/n...a-minus-91-2c/

Set 2004 apparently right smack in the so called warmest years ever

and

Joe *******i @BigJoe*******i 3h
stratospheric warming event starting in Asia. Precursor to blocking in longer term

All interesting-lets wait and see

That warming is dated up to the 6th Dec, Lawrence.

Unless there's some lag time it seems unlikely to be influencing the
stratosphere (and Netweather forum covers this).
Right now there does not appear to be a signal for any high latitude
blocking this side of xMas.
Looking like a windy, mild/cool Atlantic dominated xMas run-up to
come......and possibly beyond.....

Trouble with that record is that it was picked up via satellite. Surely the dataset to compare it with is too small. That depth of cold may have been around for decades anyway

This was 2004. What relevance has it now? Do you not think cold temperature records can be set in a warming trend?

If you read my post properly I said it was probably more down to location than cooling or warming come to that.

However it is still noteworthy information that a contininent that is apprently melting vast amounts of less dense melt water in to the surrounding oceans thus causing record sea ice; has just smashed a record low temperature.

All very contradictory

Why are you asking me all that? Granted I made the post but if I hadn't someone else would have , possibly you . So why be so obnoxious all the bloody time. Have you seen how much media coverage there's been on this?
