Don't know about Devon (it's a foreign country to me) but in west Cornwall, after a foggy start (unusually thick fog for Penzzance) 30 minutes of heavy rain 10:00-1030. It then brightened up a bit with much improved visibility. Recently more moderate rain with brief very heavy bursts. 8.8mm in the 4 hours 10:00 - 14:00, still raining steadily (14:10). All in all just plain dismal than interesting. Just to the west Scilly had some decent spells of sunshine this morning, the clearer skies just visible off Land's End for a while. This allowed the temperature to climb to 18C on St. Martins, with a UV index peaking at 4.3, http://www.weatherlink.com/user/tape...mary&headers=1 which is high for early October. Smallish but clean wave for the surfers, winds are now only a F3 or so. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance It does not look particularly nice on the Mounts Bay webcam, but there appears to be nothing untoward on the Dawlish one. |

![]() It does not look particularly nice on the Mounts Bay webcam, but there appears to be nothing untoward on the Dawlish one. It's not at all pleasant, about another 6mm since 14:00. (Actually, it seems to be brightening to the SW now, shame it'll soon be dark.) Other webcams you might be interested in which show the sky well 3 ScillyCams http://www.scillyman.co.uk/AllCams.html 3 St Ives Cams http://www.nci-stives.org/webcam.htm Minack (Porthcurno) http://www.minack.com/webcamsref.htm Land's End (great for sunsets http://www.landsendweather.info/ Sennen Harbour Cam http://www.sennen-cove.com/harbourcam.htm Most of the other good ones are set up for surf, some now even automatically follow the tide in and out, which is quite clever. All of which interests me, but quite possibly no one else on USW. The sunset surf (Gwithian - St Ives Bay)webcam http://sunset-surf.com/surf-webcam somtimes gets left looking skyward somtimes. I find then so much more useful for predicting the weather (in this stuck out in the Atlantic part of the UK) for the next couple of hours than weather forecasts. Great during the recent conditions for finding where the cloud's breaking. Graham Penzance |

I usually get my Scilly Isles fix from the Tresco webcams http://www.tresco.co.uk/tresco-flyin...ub-webcam.aspx http://www.tresco.co.uk/tresco-ruin-...fe-webcam.aspx http://www.tresco.co.uk/tresco-abbey-garden-webcam.aspx The Flying Boat one is excellent for watching the passage of active cold fronts (how sad is that?) as in a gale almost everything visible just disappears for a few minutes. But have never been to St Martins, except for stopping there in a boat to pick up passengers. It does look very enticing. |

A brief break in the heavy rain here and the sun has come out, but this could not be detected on res from the radar.
There is a good webcam view looking SW across Plymouth Sound from the MBA. http://192.171.163.3/view/view.shtml...eo.mjpg&size=1 Len Wembury |

Not sad at all in my opinion, it's hard to beat just sitting watching interesting weather. I was once sitting in a cafe (The Blue Tomato at Rock as it happens) watching a 'sea breeze front' storm develop. It was one of the highlights of the year for me! http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/SrMerrynStorm.PDF Graham |

I see another pulse of rainbow colours is moving north this morning.
It could be 'fun' later, unless you are prone to flash flooding - that is. |

We had 25 mm from the previous pulses over the last 2 days. The one approaching from the south looks serious to me. Rumbles of thunder heard. Only a yellow warning out though so just need to be aware. No need to be prepared (tangerine)of take action (red). Len Wembury, SW Devon coast |
