Default Prams, Toys Etc.. Is That It ?

All day I've eagerly waited for rain and I get a whole new meaning on Byron's description of and English Summer, 'Two weeks of hot sun and four drops of rain.

I tell you the ground hardly got wet. My cat was asleep on the lawn and slept through it. One rain butt got a tablespoons worth of rain and the other from the roof catchment ; well any water seemed to evaporate before it reached the end of the drain pipe. Is that what I got a YELLOW warning for, THAT?

My goodness, thank god UKMO didn't expect four drops of rain per square meter or they would have had to find new graphics to express the sheer Horror of it all.

Why so impatient? Have you even seen what's happening to the SSW?

Anyway, warnings were not specifically for your back yard, I shouldn't think. It thundered and hammered down here, about 25 miles for you.

Patience, dear boy. Patience.

Your time is yet to come; although from what is currently showing up on
the radar, you may get more than you need late this evening.

Such is the British weather.

Open up a bottle of something, that's what I've done and got the hose out to water the plants...

The plants no doubt appreciate it, and you save a flush. No downside :-)

Lots of lightning activity over the Channel but it doesn't seem to be going
anywhere in particular, just hanging around in the middle.

Nothing dramatic here, 9.4 mm rain in about 2½ hours with one heavy burst at 2010 Z. A couple of flashes and bangs. I could not correlate the rainfall with the Met Office radar pics (old site). According to them there should have been heavy rain around 2000 BST in this area but it was no more than light to moderate. Also, the burst at 2010Z does not appear on the radar charts.
Can't see any more excitement from this episode.
