We might all differ in views and politics on this NG but one thing is for su we all love to wait for spectacular weather events . Very sweltery here in SE London but like many I'm eagerly follow the rainfall track and will get so excited as hopefully, the outer bands approach from my SW. I have my two now depleted rain butts on standby and I will personally go out into the blessed anticipated precipitation and check them with glee. That's why we get toys out of the pram here and I'm a good example, as hopes get built up and dashed. The second storm? just leaving Cherbourg http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/ Is a good several hundred miles further west so the south to the east of the Isle of Wight and then SE UK should cop some -surely? |

I get a feeling we are between the two storm areas in Southend, after missing this mornings one to the east, the next lot is going to be the west of London, after being told the SE was most likely to see the worst ! http://www.weathercast.co.uk/radar/france.html Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" Maybe not: http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ Just put my pencil in the direction that blob was moving on the animation and the east end of London seems to be in the middle once it arrives. Very warm, sunny and muggy here now, 2 hours of continuous sunshine and temp upto 25.4°C @13:10, DP 18.1°C. Keith (Southend) |

We are going to get it shortly in Brussels. Sky has been darkening steadily over the past hour - first spots of rain falling as I write at 09.30 Belgian time (08.30 BST). Quite heavy rain and fairly frequent thunder and lightning here in SE Brussels between 09.30 and 10.00 Belgian time (08.30 to 09.00 BST) this morning. Shelf cloud and gusty wind at the start of the storm, but nothing really extreme. Moderate rain until about 11.30 with occasional thunder and lightning continuing until about 10.30. Brighter with some sunshine since 13..00. Keith (Southend) Yes, that one seems to be developing eastwards all the time, so I think you should get something - unless of course (and I don't like to mention this really) it splits and one half goes over east Kent, with the other crossing the London area. As the old saying goes, "never get too excited until you can see it out of your window". |

Try being here though, lots of rain just to the east of us, but very little here (just northwest of Exeter). |

By the way I hate to moan all the time but the rainfall pages are an absolute pain with one wrong click whilst looking at England you finish up with half the page in La Rochelle. The old one which has been phasing out for some time now ; is far more user friendly. |

Have a look at this radar snapshot from the WeatherPro app, and particularly that line of storms developing over Normandy.
http://i.imgur.com/NICRvTj.jpg The town of Laval (marked with a red dot) has had a gust of 76mph. The radar is showing rates of 50mm/hr (and likely well in excess of that): http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ There'll be some modification over the English Channel with storms likely becoming elevated over the cooler boundary layer as they move NE but there's good enough shear to keep some organisation. Storms likely developing west of that line as well. Stephen. |
