Default Haytor - new max. temperature record 13/7/13

After a week of hot sunshine and dry ground, but grass still green, the
temperature in my Met Office standard Stevenson screen (UPVC with black
slats inside) reached +29.8C. A new record since moving here in April 2002.
This beats the old record of +29.0C on 10th August 2003 at the same precise
location.
AWS max. was +29.2C at 1600 local. Wind has been F1-2, so well ventilated.
Dewpoint oscillating 15-18C.

Inside the temperature has been up to +23C, also the highest indoor
temperature this year in my house.

I am now thinking that the 32C we got in mid-Devon today may not have been too far of the mark if Will got nearly 30C at 1000 feet AMSL...

So much for trying to escape the heat by living where you do.

If the highest indoor temperature has been 23C, then I'd say that he has
been pretty successful. ISTR that Will lives in a house with thick
stone walls, which is probably as big a factor as the altitude in
keeping it cool in summer.
