Default New BBC TV Weather Series

As many of you have probably seen, there's a new four part series about
the weather starting this Wednesday on BBC 1. Hopefully it will prove to
be interesting. There was an article in connection with it in
yesterday's review section of the Telegraph which I had hoped to provide
a link to, but I can't find it on the Telegraph website. The writer had
talked to Bill Giles, Michael Fish and John Kettley (which given the
allegations of bullying directed at Bill Giles when he ran the BBC
weather operation could have been a bit ticklish). There were some
interesting very amusing remarks from the three of them - and a few very
amusing ones.

Not hopeful on this one.
Presented by a comedian, a sports reporter, and that kirkwood woman.

The first programme had a particularly dire first 20 minutes and I
nearly switched off. Fortunately it improved after that, and in
particular there was a rather good item about the D-Day landings.

Parts were interesting - especially about the D-Day forecasts and the
build up to Boscastle, but little of the footage hadn't been shown
before in different programmes. in the end, this was a light
entertainment show. In that respect it was lightly entertaining. If I
miss it next week, I won't be desperate to watch it on iplayer.

I particularly liked the poorly edited section on "micro-climates" as
there was some good points made about Aberfeldy

Yes, I noticed that Aberfeldy was mentioned and wondered if the
information had come from you.

It did but the information supplied was specifically Camserney, not
Aberfeldy and as it was regarding micro-climates - wrong. But hey why
be accurate, it was only a weather programme!

I think they missed a trick when discussing weather folklore (red sky at
night, Rain before 7 etc) when they missed the St.Swithin's Day
http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/repor...ithuns-Day.htm
forecast which is based real on science.

p.s. Looking at the Jetstream pictures, you get a sinking feeling .......
