We've had almost an inch of rain since midnight and the strong
easterly gave us a restless night. Driving rain in easterlies just finds this house out! Little holes and weaknesses that you don't think are there and have slowly been developing over the previous year await weather like that to spring full grown leaks! Nearly went A over T in the porch which contained a small lake over ceramic tiles. As slippery as sheet ice. The sea is roaring as it always does in an easterly here and it hasn't actually got light yet. The dog didn't want to go out. Totally foul weather. We were going to Princetown for a walk and lunch but Dartmoor is no place to be in this (OK, I know, it's really heaven sent weather, Will!), so Totnes will have to suffice. Now where's my Kaftan....... |

So rare it comes from the East..... I have one wall on the back of the house that never sees direct sunlight whatsoever through the whole year and used to get terribly damp and mossy even. on the mortar rendering put on some time ago. Mind you I gave it several coats of masonry paint and its still looking good.. Aty the moment my left bay window glass is being drencehed from the East whilst the right hand pay window remains dry, a welcolme respite from southerlies that tend to accelerate wet rot in the wooden sash window frames. |
