Default 30C+ in the middle of next week?

All models are signposting some hot weather for midweek next week.
Away from the far NW, there should be some high temperatures, with 30C
+ quite possible in parts of England; the SE especially. I think that
the warmest temp so far this year could be recorded in the UK during
next week (so far; 30.9 at Heathrow on 1/7/09). Wednesday looks the
likeliest day for the warmest temps at the moment.

Predict the headlines in the Daily Mole anyone?

"Phew, what a scorcher!"? Almost as popular in the 60s was "even the sea
froze!" Those were the days.

Thanks Martin. I was going from the Meto July summary and forgot that
the heat had peaked a day earlier!

Hey, the sea froze here earlier this year - I was the only one who seemed to
see it though!

Thanks - it also took me to Rory Bremner doing his send-up of Frances
Wilson - absolutely brilliant!

Yes, looks like frazil ice - a slightly oily appearance to the sea. In the
late 60s there would be pictures of Pegwell Bay with pancake ice floating in
the bay.

The MetO have caught on and use the "hot" word in their 6-15 day
forecast for the middle of next week. That'll put the mockers on 30C
then. *))
