But short of a gale away from the immediate sea front. Highest mean
wind speed at my site 28-30mph, way below the 52mph MetO prediction (thankfully!) Max Gust only 42mph. (I recorded 72mph in March and have recorded 241 days with higher gusts since 1991 - though I am fairly sheltered from the SSW). Very exposed spots like Culdrose just topped Force 8. However, there were some quite severe conditions on exposed headlands, 78mph gust recorded at Land's End. Swell is building now www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=62107 Graham Penzance |

![]() Well, the worst weather came after the wind veered westerly. A thunderstorm passed overhead around 23:30, together with heavy rain, large hail and a wind gusting 45mph. Around 10 flashes in 10 minutes 22:20-11:30. From the sound, it was virtually all cloud to cloud. Thunder continued in the distance most of the time until around 13:00 (then I fell asleep, so there may have been more) with the odd closer flash. 24 hours to 09:00 Rainfall 23.5mm, Max 11.3C, Min 3.7C Graham Penzance |

Drove through a very impressive hail shower just outside St Ives this morning, had to stop for a couple of minutes for it to ease. Nobody in surfing at Porthmeor, a bit too challenging with the tide in. Graham Penzance |

All emergency calls are being diverted to and handled by Brixham MRSC. -- MCC |
