Here in Penzance there's strong sunshine and currently the temperature
is around 19C. This warmth set off some rapid cumulus development inland which drifted south down the Lizard. Around noon a westerly sea breeze set in on the Lizard, which created some heavy rainfall. see www.xcweather.co.uk/ Showed up well on the recent rainfall radar. I think the MetO did well predicting these showers near south coast headlands. Looking from the bright sunshine on the prom it looked very spectacular. About 5C difference in temperature between Penzance & Culdrose. (14C-19C) I've heard reports of thunder near Kynance. MCC - did you catch anything? Graham Penzance |

No, nothing here in Stithians - no rain or thunder, just a cool breeze. Just had a visit from son and his family from Falmouth. He said there had been torrential rain there earlier this afternoon. -- MCC |

Looking at the earlier soundings both Camborne and Herstmonceux had a lid around 10000-12000FT. This has probably been broken with the aid of convergent land and sea breezes in the far south but perhaps to large Cu levels rather than CB - but certainly enough to give some heavy showers as per the current radar returns over Wiltshire and Dorset.
