Rain started to get heavy wednesday everning and lasted through the
night. Drains around many parts of sheffield could not cope and
flooded large numbers of roads by thurday morning rush hour, parts of
Catcliffe were impassable. Rotherham was no better the rivers Rother
and Don both overtopped as they peaked in the morning. The Sheffield
Road was under sever feet of water cutting off Bradmash buisness park
untill a temporaty Road was put from the A630.

Rain slowed and stopped in the morning but the Rother still continued
to flood field close to J33 M1. The Don in Rotherham threaterned to
flood the Bus Station for the first time since November 2000. (This
must be at least 10m above normal base flow level.

By 5:30 the rain returned in the form of Thunderstorms finally stopped
around 9pm.

I'm amazed that this is the first South Yorkshire report today, so thanks
Simon! It's also been remarkably quiet on this ng, I guess that's because
it's all been happening in the North today!
Nearly midnight, so soon time to check the gauge, but I will comment on this
tomorrow.
Best report on Radio Sheffield today, the 3 wheeler car spotted floating
down the road - missed the location unfortunately.

I wondered when that was coming! Having watched the News about the floods in
the Midlands and North and the repeated reports on the weather forecasts and
phone-ins of the dire weather everyone has been having I was thinking at
least no one can complain about a S.E bias for once ;-)

Where's the SE? Is it that places east of the Exe :-)
Some people round here think that "up north" is Barnstaple LOL

It was a very tongue in cheek comment Dave - hence the ! !!!!
Still surprised there has been little on here though. Shock horror,
uk.sci.weather outreported by the media.
