The hottest month in my Scottish records (17.1C). The maxima were
particularly high (average 22.4C), although the average minimum was not
as high as in 2003. Also there was no outstanding individual reading.
There are many very warm spells, although some of the days when it was
particularly hot elsewhere were spoiled here by the haar. Four of my
top ten maxima were recorded in July 2006. There have now been 7 (yes,
1!) days over 80F (old money) in the last ten years, all in July and
August (2003, 2005, and 2006). In spit of the haar it was also a sunny,
relatively dry month.
