March 2006 in Lundie, Angus, in the Sidlaws 10 miles NW of Dundee, elev. 200 m.
An extraordinary month. It was the coldest and wettest March on record by some way, and indeed it was the coldest of any month since January 2001. Average maximum = 5.6 Average minimum = 0.0 Total rainfall = 120.4 mm There were several notable snowfalls, particularly on the 11-12th. The lowest temperatute of the month was -5.8C on the 22nd - the latest date I have recorded such a low reading here in ten years. Things perked up a little in the last week, with the heavenly heights of 12.2 recorded on the 26th. The snowdrops are only just fading and most of the daffodils have yet to open. It was also a dull month. All readings (except grass minimum) via a Davis Weather Monitor II. Trevor Harley http://www.personal.dundee.ac.uk/~taharley/ |
