GFS 12z cold/wet November hints...
I was about to do the stats and then saw that Len had already, confirming
what I thought. Summarising the second set it appears that the ratio of
average Novembers to cold or mild winters is about...

[WR] S. Essex - mild
I wrapped up well today expecting it to be bleaker. In fact it was quite
pleasant with temp max at 14.5C this afternoon. Cold front not through till
tomorrow it seems.

ECM and GFS really throwing up a cold second half of October
I think it's a case of "if only it were January" down here Lawrence. I think
it will feel uncomfortably cold when the sun isn't out and we might get a
frost or two but nothing more than a cold...

[WR] S.Essex - gloomy
Dry, windless, 8/8 cloud and gloomy. Another sunless day. Not seen a glimpse
since I returned from the Algarve Saturday, where I didn't see a cloud for a
week. Still the golf is good!

Heavy rain further west?
It would appear that the heaviest rain forecast for this morning has taken a
more NE track and is about 100 miles further west than predicted last night.
Disasterous for the golf at Celtic...

[WR] Lowest Maximum since June 20th, S.Essex
The maximum of 17.6 C today was the lowest maximum since June 20th. It would
appear that with a chilly night ahead Autumn has finally come to S.Essex.
This ends a long continuous run of maxima...

I imagine most places had a terrific day today. Summery September days
always seem nice - almost like a bonus. A max of 21.1C which felt quite warm
as wind was less than I had expected. I noticed...
