I've spent a lot of my ng time lurking here (and have been since 2002 or so,
a mere newcomer!), unlurking as and when I think I have a contribution to the group, I thought I'd show things from my perspective (and I suspect a heck of a lot of unknown faces too, the regulars probably don't realise how their missives are read and digested with zeal by hundreds!) This group has been a source of a heck of a lot of information and learning for me as someone more used to volts amps, bits and bytes.... without the information and data passed here I would certainly know a lot less about weather and forecasting techniques than I started with, so obviously the slow osmosis of some of the regulars out of here is really saddening. I know everyone is their own person and is fully entitled to make that decision but, please, can some of you who are leaving reconsider? I've seen ngs come and go by the actions of 1 or 2 people so this is a plea to remain strong and the noise to signal ratio will return to normal levels as long as you (we) all bite our tongues. The day the group ends up with one or two OBS per day and no synoptic discussions or the lively winter 'snow/no snow' debates will certainly be a sad one for me. There we go, my 2p for what it's worth! |
