Well... ice melt, sand,

You can't STEAL a bag of salt or ice melt around here... stores have been sold
out for weeks and are now displaying lawn mowers and bathing suits (yeah, I
know that's dumb.) I have a little wee bit of "Driveway Heat" left and I'm
keeping it for walks, etc. --this lane would take tons. Sand is scarce too,
that's why we got the limestone gravel dust. O yes, I dipped into the
fertilizer supply we have (regular field fertilizer, in bags) and that stuff
actually does melt and roughen the surface. With all the fertilizer being used,
we will probably have 2 feet of grass to mow every week next summer (lol).

The "good thing" is that ice is ice and 10" isn't any worse, really, than
2". It just takes longer to melt.

The way this stuff is hanging on here, like when does 10" of ice melt? By
October maybe?? ;-)

you might also want to consider parking near a snow bank and angling your
tires

Been there, done that, snow banks here are now ice banks, so I'll probably dent
my wheels, lol.

Thank you for the Blizzak suggestion... If we get another winter like this one
I'll probably try the Blizzaks. Ironically, this is my family's first real
winter to even have a 4WD, after living up this lane since I was a kid. As I
said it is the worst ice and longest lasting I can remember.

After near 0F tonight the temps here may go into the mid 40s later in the week
(ok all you mets, what say you?), so maybe that will do some of the ice in? I
sure hope!
