Hmm, I guess it must be my setup (TM), which is a user a/c under Win2K
and IE6(.0.2800.1106IS) patched to date
AFAIK. (I guess Avant just
picks up the same IE6 engine details). This is what I see:
1. If I'm viewing a previously downloaded Avbrief radar aniGIF in IE6
then pressing F5 dumps me into the Avbrief home page. Navigating
through into the radar index page again and clicking the same aniGIF
link simply replays the previously downloaded aniGIF, ie doesn't
trigger a refresh of the GIF.
2. Ditto Ctrl F5 or manually selecting Refresh as a menu option gives
an identical behaviour.
3. Using back and reselecting the same link gives an identical result.
So for whatever reason I can't force a re-fetch of an image file on my
set-up, though it does work fine for forcing a refresh of HTML pages.
(This rings a faint bell somewhere about image files not necessarily
being easy to refresh in some IE configurations).
But thanks anyway for the responses, which I interpret to mean that
most other people can indeed get the obvious approach (ie effectively
refreshing or reclicking the same link) to work in getting a more
recent aniGIF downloaded. Sounds like I might need to ask on the IE ng
to make some more progress.
