Hi to the group from a newbie. Please excuse me if this is a recent or done
to death topic, I have reviewed the recent history and didn't spot it. I would appreciate your views on the electronic home weather stations that are available. I'm not looking for anyone to be specific and name brands etc, but are they worth buying and do they work (accuracy, quality etc)? Particularly as I've got less than £100 to spend (limit set by her indoors!!). I've always been interested in 'the weather' and would like to monitor pressure, RH, etc etc locally. Thanks in advance for any comments. Pete (enjoying the warmth while it lasts!) |

Have a ponder on ebay, there are a few stations on there that are pretty
good. I have 2 stations, a Davis that measures all sort like solar radiation, rain, wind, humidty temp etc... and i have an indoor one that i did get for £80, but i see on ebay for £40, made by Oregeon Sceintific i believe. That measures indoor temp, outdoor temp (through a wireless sensor), humidty and baraometer. It also predicts with 3/4 icons what the weather is likely to do in the next 24-48 hours. Its very simlar to this:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...227488 9&rd=1 Stuart "Pete" wrote in message news ![]() Hi to the group from a newbie. Thanks for your response Stuart. That's the kind of thing I've been looking
at as I'm not experienced enough to deal with the megga techi stuff. Also the budget won't stretch to it. I would like one that gives me both indoor and out temp and humidity, as well as records of recent pressure history. I see that they are not mains powered. Do the batteries last a reasonable time? I think I will stick a few bids in and see how I get on. Thanks again. Pete "Stuart" wrote in message news ![]() Have a ponder on ebay, there are a few stations on there that are pretty good. batteries last more than a year, so no worries there.
My outdoor sensor battereies lasted over 2 years! My station used AA battereies. Stuart "Pete" wrote in message ... Thanks for your response Stuart. The cheap ones only do that in the form of a bar graph, rather than individual readings that you can recall. I've been trying for weeks to find a relatively cheap (say £100) weather station that can do what my 12 year old (and increasingly inaccurate) weather station can do, i.e. store individual pressure readings for the last 24 hours. -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |

I have now bought one, which cost me less than £50 including postage
![]() According to the blurb it can do everything I want it to including 'give a graphic display of air pressure history for the past 30 hours', or so it says. Not sure about the quality or the validity of the sales spiel as it was bought on line, so I await delivery with interest. Thanks to all those that gave me advice, much appreciated. I considered one of them when I was looking, seems very good. If you want
the full details (user manual) here's a link: http://www.oregonscientific.co.uk/fi...BAA898HG_E.pdf They don't come up on e-bay that often, the last one I saw went for £39 plus £6 postage a couple of weeks ago, which was bargain price (£79.99 plus postage on the Oregon website!). Good luck and I hope you get what you want. Pete "Paul Hyett" wrote in message ...
