Default Flaming June... Not! High Wycombe just 12.2C!!

Well here we are on the 3rd June and the temperature at the time of writing
(17:45 BST) is just 12.3C! A short while ago we had a light shower and since
then the temperature has plummeted from 19.7 to just 12.2C.

I've had a look at the 15 day GFS forecast and they are predicting 850mB air
temps of less than 5C for most of the time, and grads is predicting the mean
temp. anomaly is -2C to -4C!

I've said it before, I'll say it again: unless the jet stream comes out of this
locked predominantly north-south plunge over the UK, this year we're going to
get one of the coldest summers overall for many years! It was only the very warm
two days at the beginning and the two at the end of May that prevented the mean
anomaly being approx. -3C! I have NEVER known 7 consecutive night frosts in May
before!

Nigel

Aagh! Every time I learn something new... it pushes something old out of my brain!

That's averages for you ;-) Bearing in mind of course that one of your "very
warm" days was the hottest My day for 50 years! I wouldn't give up on summer
just yet.
