Default Met office to stop motoring warnings

From the weather centre from what I have just heard or rather just seen.

"--START--
FOLLOWING DISCUSSION WITH THE KEY CUSTOMERS AND USERS OF THE
NATIONAL SEVERE WARNING SERVICE (NSWWS) IT HAS BEEN AGREED THAT THE
ISSUING OF MOTORING WARNINGS IS ADDING NO BENEFIT TO THE OVERALL
PURPOSE OF THIS SERVICE. IT IS THE INTENTION THAT MOTORING WARNINGS
WILL CEASE ON 31ST AUGUST 2005.

NO OTHER ELEMENTS OF THE NSWWS WILL BE AFFECTED AT THIS TIME.

FOR ENQUIRIES REGARDING THIS WARNING - PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REGIONAL
MET OFFICE.

ANY RECIPIENT OF MOTORING WARNINGS WHO FEEL THEY MAY BE AFFECTED BY
THIS DECISION SHOULD ADDRESS THEIR CONCERNS TO
HEAD, PUBLIC WEATHER SERVICES
PROGRAM."
--END--

My Comments:

Well one wonders what these services are for. With
the BBC having upgraded its weather forecasts to all those nice and easy to
see symbols. It seems like one will be able to obtain a Masters degree in
the weather at this rate just by reading their reports and watching the
weather forecasts. This is all getting rather challenging don't you think:-(

Perhaps if the banks stop handling money, they will make even bigger
profits, and if the supermarkets sell food past its expiry dates they will
do even better:-(

Gavin.

All I am saying here Lawrence, is that we seem to be caught up in a
mentality wherby those who provide services seem to think that by reducing
what they provide, somehow it makes it better. I have seen it happen no less
than three times in the past 2 months here now.
The Banks are doing it, Tesco has done it by reducing the service in
their Cafes and now the BBC has done it with its dumbed down weather
forecast.

Gavin.
