Default Springlike - At Last!

After a rather cloudy morning, a reasonable amount of sun in
the afternoon saw temps rise to 15.8C, easily the highest of
the year so far. This comes as something of a relief after
several days of overcast conditions.

I suspect my March record of 17.2C will come under serious
threat over the next couple of days.

Roll on spring!

Hi Col

We recorded 19.3C on Friday, not only the warmest of the year so far,
but the warmest March day in Coventry since 1990 (20.2C).

Just out of interest, our warmest on record was 22.0C in 1929.

It does feel good in the sun after a week in the rain in North Wales on
a geography field trip, where it rained every day!

That might have been better than the Geography field trip i went on to the
Peak District (Edale) this year. Over the week i was there, we had nearly
20cms of snow (you try looking for podsols in that!), no joke. We went
during the recent cold snap.

Going off topic now, so sorry to all non-geographers on uk.sci.weather!

Mike, I didn't know you were a geography teacher - where do you teach?

As for podsols, do you know of a site in the Midlands where you can
study a brown earth and a podsol profile in close proximity? Would be
useful to take our A2 students before their AQA core module exam in
June.

Just wondered.

Incidentally, sand dunes in driving rain is not fun either!

cheers
