There are a lot of hints on this by the two online independent weather
forecasters Metcheck and TWO, The Weatheroutlook.com.
Despite the criticism they get which I think is a bit unfair, they do
provide a pretty good service. They are both attempting to forecast the
weather at Christmas. It makes interesting reading and one can attach
whatever significance they wish to it. It is no more, or no less accurate
than what you get on the BBC. I prefer to read what these online weather
forecasters provide to the bland and quite irritating presentations that the
BBC do provide.

Gavin.

Yes Gavin they provide a good service-no one denies this, but no one, not
one person on this planet can predict what the weather will be on or around
the 25th of December based on todays (this days) knowledge.
As for " Despite the criticism they get which I think is a bit unfair" What
do they ffffing expect! Put up or shut up. So far they've failed miserably
to put up, so shut up !
That's what I think. By the way Gavin, stop playing advocat for the Devil.

Well, the odds of it snowing given by Ladbrokes are 7/2. They have as
much knowledge as anyone I guess (i.e. none at all)!

Hi Jonathan,

I hope you know how odds are calculated after they have been allowed onto
the market ? 7/2 is not representative of the weather one iota, but of the
level of demand for the bet and the amount laid down.

Such wisdom in one so young! I think there may be a small contribution
from the weather of past Christmases, but not much. Who gives a monkey's
anyway? I've never associated Christmas with snow at any time since I got
seriously interested in the weather in about 1954, as a 11 or 12 year old.
Bloody obvious, just from a few years' observations as a teenager.

Tudor Hughes.

I guess the BBC will make some forecast about a white Christmas about
December 21st,and then increasingly after that.
To escape the everlasting grey skies I am off caving today. Steady
temperatures there with the exception of immediately around the 20ft
waterfall in Swildons!
