Default Heat Low over London

Wld have thought this wld have set something off.
Striking contrast here in SE London (I'm practically on the meridian) -looking west 1-2/8
Cu,-looking east 4-6/8 Cu ,partly merging into streets with some tCu forming throughout the
afternoon, but all dying away after forming striking turrets.
I guess there just wasn't enuf moisture at the surface or enough forcing aloft,

Probably a combination of the last two, but even so given the profiles and
evidence of localised convergence we expected more. The showers that did
develop over East Anglia (including an ISOL TS) and Essex appeared to
dissipate almost as quickly as they developed. Will be interesting to see if
anything triggers overnight as increased forcing comes in and nocturnal
cloud top cooling comes into play.

I have seen a report of lightening near Harrow in London and there is a
trace on the Met Subscription Lightening web page about 30 mins ago.

Thanks, Chris, I hadn't seen it. I know at least one forecaster who will be
celebrating that one :-)
