Default The return of MetMag

Symons's Meteorological Magazine ran from 1866 to about 1920 when
publication was taken over by the Meteorological Office. It
continued to
be produced by them until circa 1994. It was usually (at least
until the
last few years) crammed full of useful stuff, informative,
instructional,
etc, etc, so imagine my delight when I heard it was coming back:

Yes, Philip, I see what you mean. Not quite the earnest monthly journal I
helped sub-edit in 1964/5.
So you're a classically educated Trekkie. :-)

I got my copy in the post earlier this week, just came across as an internal
PR with the "We're doing so well at such and such" articles. Disappointed.

Just in case, like me, you didn't quite know what Philip had written;-)

True grit
A day in the life of Lincolnshire County Council's highways department
as they strive to keep the winter roads open.

A bit early, at least it should stop the complaints from the moaners on
here.

I jumped when I read 'metmag' too on the M O website. You'll just have to put
up with 'Weather' instead, Philip!

(and on the subject of Weather, I am assured that the July issue (a) has the
sturdier covers that we requested some months ago, partly in response to the
feedback on this NG, and (b) should be coming through our letter boxes tmrw. or
Saturday).
