Hi,
Just catching up on the posts from yesterday - the strong winds cut our Internet connection here at the University of Kent at about 1pm yesterday and has only just been restored. For those who are interested, the connection between the KentishMAN (fast adademic network in Kent) and Janet (Joint Academic Network) failed; most connections to the KentishMAN use a microwave transmitter/reveiver, so the likely problem would have been a tree falling in line of the transmission (it requires line of sight) or the transmitter/receiver being damaged by the wind. The connection also suffers during very heavy rain. Jonathan |
