High temperatures and heavy rain around the world (BBC, 15/06)

Temperatures in the south of the UK continue to soar into the high 20s
Celsius today, but the change to cooler conditions have already started to
push down across the north of Scotland, accompanied by some rain. By the end
of the week we will all notice a drop in temperature. For example, today in
London we are expecting a maximum temperature of 28C (82F), but by Thursday
that will be closer to 19C (66F). But there will not be much evidence of
rain in the far south, at best here we can expect some showers. Not good
news for gardeners or farmers.

Little rain indeed. Here in Romsey (Hampshire), I have yet to
record any measurable rain this month; just a 'Trace' so far.

Our highest temperature of 2004 to date was yesterday (Mon 14th),
peaking at 27.4C, closely followed by a max of 27.2C today.
