Default Davis Weatherlink v5.5 Final software released

The latest final (ie non-beta) update to the Davis Weatherlink
software is now available as v5.5 for download from:

http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather/software.asp

As usual, this is a free update for any users of the VP Weatherlink
and should (though I haven't yet had a chance to confirm this for
sure) also be a free update for any users of WMII Weatherlink who have
previously purchased an update from v4 to v5.4.

The two main changes are an improved Help system and an important
change in the way that the software is organised internally to allow
future expansion by means of specialist add-on modules. There are also
a number of bug fixes.

In general, experienced users won't notice any significant difference
from v5.4 unless they're troubled by one of the detail bugs now fixed
and may prefer simply to stick with v5.4 for now. New users should
benefit from the improved Help. And as the new add-on software modules
are progressively released (Turf Management and Email/Phone Alerts
should be available shortly for purchase), so it will be necessary to
be running WL v5.5 or later.

The key difference from v4 is that all the features for running an
automatically-updating weather reporting website are now integrated
within the main Weatherlink software. The overall 'look and feel' (ie
the main screens and how they operate) of v5.5 is still quite similar
to v4, but there are numerous detail revisions and extensions (at
least insofar as the data is available from WMII stations - obviously
parameters such as solar radiation intensity need an appropriate VP
station).

I've replied to you privately about pricing.

Thanks for pointing that out John, I notice that one of the fixes with
Weather Underground 'may' have simplified the corruption problem that
means you have to create a new station. Although I certainly haven't
got an old browser so may be wrong here. But worth updating so if I do
get the problem again I can give it a try. The date field I could
never edit and left me a 'rubbish' date, we shall see...

snip
6. Fixed Weather Underground upload problems with older browsers by
using an escape sequence for the space characters in the date field of
uploaded data.

5. Station communication errors are logged more often. (Where 5.4 only
displayed a error message box.)
*Maybe useful*

15. Fixed the bug that causes WeatherLink to crash when you try to set
the Latitude & Longitude from the Weather Underground Setup dialog.

20. Command-line downloading of Monitor, Wizard, and Perception
stations work for leap years.
* Not a problem for another three years of course :-)*

And finally...
Software Updates
For owners of earlier versions of WeatherLink. Downloadable at no
charge.
