I saw what looked like a contrail, except it was very wide, around eight times
the width of a normal contrail. Concorde flies over my bit of Reading
(deafening thing...), it couldn't be from that could it? Or is it just a type
of cloud?

Personally I don't like the things, mess up the clear blue sky. But
then living under the main UK N-S flight path we can frequently count
half a dozen aircraft going one direction and another half dozen the
other at any one time. It's busy up there...
