Hi Gary, yep I could see it from my house. Very dark your way and thunder
audible. Could not see lightning though. It was darker towards Teignmouth and
the main cell was in that direction somewhere. Steady rain here for about 2
hours now (1914). Up to 1800 I recorded 8.8 mm but more since then. Brief
downpours close to Exeter on A38 around 1620. I guess this is payback time for
all the dry sunny weather recently ?

Hi Will. Still pretty warm outside 13/12 (21.44) and also somewhat Humid. I
could see the odd flash from early on, like you said from Teignmouth
direction also loud rumbles of Thunder.
Having said that ive just got back from the far side of Torquay looking
towards Weymouth direction and can see some flash's towards that direction.

Interesting Day!

Youi missed it Will!

The afternoon showed promise of some action, and this, unusually, got more
rather than less interesting so that as I left Briford at around 5.30
serious storms were moving S to sw down the Teign valley. In the mid Teign
valley (Hyner if you know it and beyond to Chudleigh) it absolutley threw it
down, with hail (proper 4mm(!) stuff not graupel) close lightning and loud
thunder. Very quickly flooded roads and made it impossible to drive more
than slowly.

Later, at 8ish, the Teign could be seen rising by the minute near
Kingsteignton, it go really quite surprisingly full - I checked out places
to the east of Chudleigh which were also awash so a big part of the lower
Teign catchment got deluged.

We had a total of 9mm at Bridford - most of that in 15min. Judging by the
river and what I encountered some place futher down the valley must have has
more than double that.
