I note many stations are reporting either haze or mist at present -
associated with a polluted atmosphere and the south to south east wind presumably. There is also evidence of desert dust in the atmosphere as the SKIRON (Uni of Athens) site suggests http://forecast.uoa.gr/dustindx.html -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 01/04/2004 10:15:35 UTC |

My wife (who is an asthmatic), has noticed breathing problems over these two days. I live on the Suffolk coast, and the night before last the air was thick with oil refinery fumes coming straight from Rotterdam and thereabouts. It sticks in the back of your throat - v unpleasant. |

This image is just over 400KB and is a cropped and enhanced version of the original. http://www.mtullett.plus.com/MODIS-31-03-2004.jpg Image courtesy MODIS Rapid Response Project at NASA/GSFC http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/ -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 01/04/2004 12:43:43 UTC |
